1926-1927 Schoenhut "Flip Up Roof" Dollhouse. Item #484

$1,800.00

1926-1927 Schoenhut “flip up roof” dollhouse with the Gottschalk style cardboard windows and shutters with 9 rooms. 4 rooms in the main body of the house, 3 rooms in the attic, upper and lower hallways with stairs.

The house stands 22 3/4” tall to the top of the roof, 26 1/2” wide at the roof top, 25” wide at the base and 12” deep at the base, making it an easy house to display. The house opens from the front.

The average room size in the main section of the house is about 9 1/4” wide, 8 1/4” deep and 7” tall, they all vary about 1/4” from each other. The attic rooms are all about 7 3/4” wide, 9” deep, and 6” tall. The attic rooms never had wallpaper. Wood roof with 2 dormer windows.

5 of the 6 rooms including the 2 hallways have their original wall and floor papers. The upstairs hallway had been repapered with what looked like shelf paper which someone tried to remove, badly. I had some old dollhouse wallpaper that I glued to very thin card stock and used quake hold to attach it to the walls so it can easily be removed and replaced if wanted. The floor papers do have wear and some areas of missing paper.

When I bought this house it was missing the wooden staircase, I made a new one in the style of the original and again I did not attach it so it can be replaced if wanted.

Other than that, everything about this house is original. The curtains are discolored, 2 panels are missing, and some are tattered. On both sides of the house the windows are the original paper decals in very good condition. The papered decal windows on each end of the attic, are missing. The window boxes on the front of the house are all intact, 1 is missing it’s sponge flowers, 2 are missing part of the flowers. There has been no repainting on the house and it has the Schoenhut decal on the right side of the base. Nice size house with lots of rooms to furnish.

I had this house furnished with 1928 Schoenhut furniture in the 4 main rooms and a mix of other years of Schoenhut furniture in the 3 attic rooms. Furniture not included with the house.
